Tobosa Developmental Services is Southeast New Mexico’s premier organization for providing services to people living with developmental disabilities. We give hundreds of people living in our community an exceptional space for growth and development through our innovative programs and individual care.
The Supported Living program is one of our largest programs, providing 24 hour guidance and support to individuals living with developmental disabilities. Our program provides a way for individuals to live their lives in a safe environment while they build important skills and independence.
Customized Community Supports (DayHab)
Our DayHab program encourages individuals to adopt an active lifestyle through various activities, trips, and projects during the day. In our DayHab program, clients spend time with others from the program exploring the city, engaging in local activities, and participating in citywide programs such as the Roswell Recreation Center and the Joy Club Senior Center.
Employment for Our Clients
Our employment program gives clients a chance to work and earn money. Our involvement within the community of Roswell has helped us build important relationships with community leaders, stakeholders, and businesses. Throughout the years, these altruistic Roswell community members have opened their doors to us and they have provided our clients with employment and volunteer opportunities.
Our Family Living program provides support to families caring for a person living with developmental disabilities or to a person living on his/her own and requiring some support. The difference between this program and others is that Family Living works to develop skills for individuals who are learning to become fully independent. Essentially, this program allows for an individual to settle into their life, whether it is on their own or with a family of their own.
The Assisted Living program works with individuals that have achieved a substantial level of independence. Individuals in the Assisted Living program live on their own with a majority of decisions made exclusively by them. Nothing makes us prouder than seeing our clients graduate to this stage in their lives. This is a major step and we treat it like a very great accomplishment. When a client reaches this stage, it strongly rewards our hard work as an organization, but more importantly, it highlights the individual’s incredible progress working through their disability to grow and develop. Everyone’s work pays off and our core mission is ultimately fulfilled.
Tobosa’s Respite program provides supports to family members caring for another family member living with developmental disabilities. The program gives guardians or caregivers a break to recuperate, allowing others to come in and provide services while the caregiver is out. It also provides respite to the individual living with the disability. They also have an opportunity to spend their time with others taking the necessary break from their personal caregiver.
